This Family Embraced Tragedy And Turned It Into A Beautiful Dream Home — Wow

The human spirit is really inspirational. Even in the face of disaster, we”re able to pick ourselves up and make the best of what we have.

This family decided to begin reconstructing after losing their house in a 2012 fire. They”ve since been recording their assemble on a site called A Building We Shall Go. They share DIY hints, tricks, and techniques they”ve used to make a house they can be proud to call their own.

For this specific job, they needed to install new hardwood floorings for their living room. But rather than going to the lumber yard, purchasing new lumber, or hiring a contractor, they determined to do things just a little bit otherwise…

They found some old wood pallets…

And started taking them

And began taking them apart.

Then it was time to make them more “flooring appropriate.”

Next was the steady and slow procedure for nailing the pallets to the floor.

Looking quite great!

They applied a layer of mineral spirits, which preps it for an end and cleans the wood.

A layer of finish (similar to that used on basketball courts) was added.

And the floors were done!

The furniture actually complements the floorboards that are lovely.
