Chris Martin: ‘Beyonce Rejected My Music’
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin still cringes about the second Beyonce described one of his tunes as “awful.”
The British group was joined by the 34-year old for the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, when they teamed up with Bruno Mars for an all star sing along.
Beyonce and Martin have been pals for years, but he confesses she’s’t consistently been a supporter of his music efforts.
In a fresh interview with Rolling Stone, the 38-year old remembered the moment he presented a track called “Hook Up” to Beyonce and her producer Stargate, just for her to turn it down “in the pleasantest potential manner.”
“ I was told by her, ‘I actually enjoy you – but this is terrible,’” the Brit
Beyonce is’t the only big name artist who has turned down a Chris Martin-written tune. The vocalist lately admitted a duet was declined by the late David Bowie in 2014.
I sent him a tune to request him to sing on it,” Martin said in a homage piece to the rock star, who lost his fight with cancer. “He called me and said, ‘It’s not one of your greatest.’”
Meanwhile, the Coldplay star also used his new Rolling Stone interview to open up about the status of his amicable divorce with Gwyneth Paltrow, the mother of his two children.
“I ‘ve an extremely excellent parting-divorce,” Martin said. It ’s a divorce, but it’s a strange one. I do’t think about that word quite frequently. I do’t view it that way. I view it more like you meet with someone, you’ve some time together and things only move through.”
The couple and Paltrow ’s by encouraging father’s group on from a luxury box at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, children, Apple and Moses, revealed their support at the Super Bowl.
